Nicole Kidman isn’t afraid to make a bold fashion statement on the red carpet. Over the past three decades, the actor has worn everything from shimmering beaded dresses to custom couture creations. For his last public appearance at The man from the north Premiere in Los Angeles, Kidman wore a Prada feather dress. The mustard-colored number was adorned with salmon-colored feathers on both shoulders, which was a subtle reference to the house’s Fall 2022 runway collection.
On April 18, Kidman attended the high-profile premiere alongside her husband, musician Keith Urban. For the occasion, she chose the aforementioned daring dress, which also featured beaded floral embroidery on the skirt. The dress was custom designed for Kidman – although the nearly identical feather detailing can be spotted in several looks from Prada’s Fall/Winter 2022 range. The actress paired her flashy dress with a silver clutch, also from Prada, and accessorized with a pair of croc-effect earrings and a diamond-encrusted Serpentes Tassel ring from ORLOV.
Kidman fans seemed to have differing opinions on the star’s latest look. Sharon Stone wrote “beautiful dress” and left a fire emoji under the actor’s Instagram post while another fan said she was “the only human the color would look good on”.

It also wasn’t the first time Kidman and his stylist Julia von Boehm had selected Prada for the red carpet. In October 2017, the actor attended The Killing of a Sacred Deer premiered in a strapless bronze dress with all-over beading, courtesy of the brand. The actor also attended the brand’s Spring ’20 show – and wore a full Prada look – in September 2019.
According to spring 2023 bridal trends, flamboyant embellishments like feathers and pearls will take over the occasion-appropriate outfits in the coming year. So, it’s no surprise that the feathery aesthetic is already seeping into the world of red carpet outfits. You too can try this trend – just snag one of the elegant feather-trimmed pieces that vaguely resemble Kidman’s Prada dress, in front.
